'In Dreams' The Roy Orbison Story - What's on in Ipswich

Roy Orbison

Now for the very first time Australian audiences can experience the magic of Orbisons music from his early Rockabilly roots at Sun records in the fifties through the sixties, seventies and into the Travelling Wilburys era in the eighties.

Bringing a new twist to the performances is ‘wordsmith’ Noel Sheridan who segues between the musical content with an interesting narrative of information and history of the Roy Orbison story.

Supported by his 5pce band and special guest Artist Marcel Riesco brings a true ‘Live on Stage’ performance that is sure to have the audience ‘Crying’ out for more.

“Be prepared for goose bumps”, “Get ready to be entertained” “Marcell Riesco sounds uncannily like Orbison”. These are just a few of the media comments following Riescos performances. Reiscos credentials are significant. His performances include: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute week to Roy Orbison where her performed all of Roy’s hit sharing the bill with The Crickets (Buddy Holly’s band), Raul Malo (The Mavericks), Glen Campbell, Billy Burnette (Rockabilly legend Johnny Burnette’s nephew) and more.

He performed at the Roy Orbison Award Celebration in which Roy’s wife Barbara received a Lifetime Achievement Award for Roy. Again in Wink Texas at the 20th Annual Roy Orbison Festival, sharing the bill with Wesley Orbison (Roy’s oldest son).

Get Back - The Lennon & McCartney Songbook

Three of Australia’s top cabaret performers are joining forces to take you on a Magical Mystery Tour through a collection of the finest pop songs ever written.

Enjoy an up close and personal cabaret night of your favourite Lennon and McCartney songs in the new Cunningham Room with drinks, finger food and snacks from 6.30pm.

Fancy singing along with the na-na-na-na bit in Hey Jude? Wanna give peace a chance? Ever listened to Abbey Road and thought “Hey, those guys were actually quite good!”? Does All My Loving bring back uncomfortable memories of Johnny Young and The Young Talent Team? Inhale oxygen and exhale Carbon Dioxide? This is the show for you!

There’s something for everyone in The Great Liverpudlian Songbook – and this multi-award winning cabaret trio serve it up it with their trademark offbeat humour and a healthy dose of the hottest three-part harmonies on the planet!

Expect highbrow harmony and lowbrow comedy – and the occasional joke about one-legged ex-models.

No song writing partnership has produced so rich and diverse an output of songs than that of John Lennon and Paul McCartney – from the haunting beauty of The Long and Winding Road, Yesterday, Let It Be, Norwegian Wood, Eleanor Rigby, Hey Jude & Imagine – to the upbeat, swinging 60s sounds of Ticket To Ride, When I’m 64, Lady Madonna, Penny Lane, Got To Get You Into My Life, All You Need is Love and Baby You Can Drive My Car …. beep beep, mm beep beep, Yeah!

The ticket price includes a post show ‘Meet and Greet’ with the cast and enjoy a complimentary drink and nibbles.

Help Blaise Move and Play and Have Fun Like Other Children.

Our vision for Blaise is for him to be able to move and play and have fun like other children.

Hi! My name is Blaise, and I am 2 years old. I have Spastic Quadraplegic Cerebral Palsy, which means I have a lot of trouble doing things. We are raising funds for my therapy and a special aid and treatment called the TheraSuit Method to help me to move better and to gain muscle strength.

Blaise’s Story

I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at 10 months old. I am a happy boy and I have lots of fun playing with my older brother, Corey, and my Mummy and Daddy. I have learned to roll and I can push up on my arms when I am positioned and prompted. I have trouble with movement in my right arm and I also have trouble with my vision. I am trying so hard to sit up and one day I hope I will crawl too! I am itching to get around the place.

I spend a lot of my time doing my therapies and I don’t like to complain. I go to Myofascial release twice a week. This type of massage helps my muscles to relax and I can then open my right hand properly and move my neck. I also love to go swimming and I see a lot of doctors too.

Blaise’s Needs

There is a promising therapy for children like Blaise - but it costs a lot of money. We are raising funds to take Blaise to the US where the TheraSuit Method is available.

It is used to rehabilitate neurological and sensory disorders and is becoming a standard method of treatment for children diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy but it is not available in Australia. Case studies show that using the TheraSuit improves the density (strength) of the bone as well as helps to diminish subluxation in the hip joint. The TheraSuit is part of the TheraSuit Method, an intensive physi¬cal therapy/exercise program.

The TheraSuit accelerates functional progress. Children undergoing intensive therapy with the use of the TheraSuit achieve better results in a shorter amount of time.
